Psalms & Scriptures for a 3 hour Vigil, Guideline Introduction: Part 2

99:9 For the Lord our God is holy!
100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
100:3 Know that the Lord is God!
It is he that made us, and we are his...
100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving...
Give thanks to him, bless his name!
100:5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever...
102:26-27 They will perish, but thou dost endure;
they will wear out like a garment.
but thou art the same, and thy years
have no end.
103:1-5 Bless the Lord, O my soul;
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases;
who redeems your life from the Pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy
who satisfies you with good as long as you live
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
103:8- The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in
steadfast love.
He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
He does not deal with us
according to our sins,
nor requite us according to our
iniquities.
For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those
who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions
from us.
As a father pities his children,
so the Lord pities those who fear him.
For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.
As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
But the steadfast love of the Lord is
from everlasting to everlasting
upon those who fear him...
103:19 The Lord has established his throne
in the heavens, and his kingdom rules
over all.
Bless the Lord O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
hearkening to the voice of his word!
Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers that do his will!
Bless the Lord all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
104:1-13 Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord my God, thou art very great!
Thou art clothed with honor and majesty,
who coverest thyself with light
as with a garment,
who hast stretched out the heavens
like a tent,
who hast laid the beams of thy chambers
on the waters,
who makest the clouds thy chariot,
who ridest on the wings of the wind,
who makest the winds thy messengers,
fire and flame thy ministers.
Thou didst set the earth on its foundations,
so that it should never be shaken.
Thou didst cover it with the deep
as with a garment;
the waters stood above the mountains.
At thy rebuke they fled;
at the sound of thy thunder they took to flight.
The mountains rose, the valleys sank down
to the place which thou didst appoint for them.
Thou didst set a bound which they should not pass,
so that they might not again cover the earth.
Thou makest springs gush forth in the valleys;
they flow between the hills,
they give drink to every beast of the field;
the wild asses quench their thirst.
By them the birds of the air have their habitation;
they sing among the branches.
From thy lofty abode thou waterest the mountains;
the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy work.
104:24-25 O Lord, how manifold are thy works!
In wisdom hast thou made them all;
the earth is full of thy creatures.
Yonder is the sea, great and wide,
which teems with things innumerable,
living things both small and great.
104:33-34 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
May my meditation be pleasing to him,
for I rejoice in the Lord.
105:4 Seek the Lord and his strength,
seek his presence continually!
Remember the wonderful works he has done...
105:41-42 He opened the rock, and water gushed forth;
it flowed through the desert like a river.
For he remembered his holy promise...
106 Praise the Lord!
O give thanks to the Lord for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!
107:8 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wonderful works to the sons of men!
107:9 For he satisfies him who is thirsty,
and the hungry he fills with good things.
107:13-14 ...they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress;
he brought them out of darkness and gloom,
and broke their bonds asunder.
107:15 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wonderful works to the sons of men!
107:19-20 ...they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress;
he sent forth his word and healed them,
and delivered them from destruction.
107:21-22 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wonderful works to the sons of men!
And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!
107:28-30 ... they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress;
he made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
Then they were glad because they had quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
31 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wonderful works to the sons of men!
108:1-4 My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast!
I will sing and make melody!
Awake my soul!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
...I will awake the dawn!
I will give thanks to thee...
For thy steadfast love is great above the heavens,
thy faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
108:5-6 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let thy glory be over all the earth!
that thy beloved may be delivered,
give help by thy right hand and answer me!
108:12-13 O grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the help of man!
With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.
109:1 Be not silent, O God of my praise!

l09:21-24 ...because thy steadfast love is good, deliver me!
For I am poor and needy,
and my heart is stricken within me.
I am gone, like a shadow at evening;
I am shaken off like a locust.
My knees are weak through fasting;
my body has become gaunt.
109:26 Help me, O Lord my God!
Save me according to thy steadfast love!
110:1 The Lord says to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand,
till I make your enemies
your footstool."
110:3 From the womb of the morning
like dew your youth will come to you.
The Lord has sworn and will not change
his mind...
111:1 Praise the Lord. I will give thanks to the Lord
with my whole heart...

111:4 He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered;
The Lord is gracious and merciful.
111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
a good understanding have all those who practice it.
His praise endures forever!
112:1 Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who
fears the Lord,
Who greatly delights in his commandments!
112:4 Light rises in the darkness
for the upright;
The Lord is gracious, merciful, and righteous.
112:6-8 For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered forever.
He is not afraid of evil tidings;
his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is steady, he will not be afraid
until he sees his desire on his adversaries.
115:12-13 The Lord has been mindful of us;
he will bless us...
he will bless those who fear the Lord,
both small and great.
115:1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to thy name give glory,
for the sake of thy steadfast love
and thy faithfulness!
115:3,11 Our God is in the heavens;
he does whatever he pleases.
You who fear the Lord,
trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
115:14-15 May the Lord give you increase...
May you be blessed by the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!
115:16 The heavens are the Lord's heavens,
but the earth he has given
to the sons of men.

115:18 ...we will bless the Lord
from this time forth and
for evermore.
Praise the Lord!
Glory be to the Lord/my God

27:1-14 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers assail me,
uttering slanders against me,
my adversaries and foes,
they shall stumble and fall.
Though a host encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet I will be confident.
One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after;
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple.
For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent,
he will set me high upon a rock.
And now my head shall be lifted up
above my enemies round about me;
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud,
be gracious to me and answer me!
Thou hast said, "Seek ye my face."
My heart says to thee,
"Thy face, Lord, do I seek."
Hide not thy face from me.
Turn not thy servant away in anger,
thou who hast been my help.
Cast me not off, forsake me not,
O God of my salvation!

27:10-14 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,
but the Lord will take me up.
Teach me thy way, O Lord;
and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.
Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
for false witnesses have risen against me,
and they breathe out violence.
I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living!
Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
yea, wait for the Lord!
113:2-9 Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and for evermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting
the name of the Lord is to be praised!
The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens!
Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
who looks far down upon the heavens
and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust,
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children!
Praise the Lord!
121:1-3 I lift up my eyes to the hills
From whence does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved,
he who keeps you will not slumber.
5-6 The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not smite you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7-8 The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and for evermore.

NU 24:5-6 O how goodly are thy tents O Ya'aqov,
and thy tabernacles, O Yisra'el!
like gardens by the river's side
like aloes which the Lord has planted,
and cedar trees beside the waters.
He shall pour the water out of his buckets,
moistening his seed plentifully...
